The best Christmas baking kits for kids who are gluten-free, dairy-free, or egg-free.

by

It’s the time of year where we’re bombarded with fun Christmas crafting and baking kits to do with our little ones but those of us who have kids with allergies may feel we have to miss out. Being gluten-free myself and on a dairy-free diet AND having a child with an egg allergy, I’m always looking for baking kits we can both enjoy (and that he can happily lick the bowl with!) and wanted to do plenty of Christmas baking. Here’s our guide to the best Christmas baking kits for kids with allergies.

AD-Disclaimer: some items were sent for review

1.Christmas gluten free bake at home kit

What is it? This festive baking kit allows you to choose any kit from their range of gluten-free baking kits (such as chocolate chip cookies, vanilla cupcakes, or chocolate cupcakes) and it comes with plenty of festive extras. As well as everything we needed to create chocolate iced cupcakes (complete with festive Christmas-shaped sprinkles); it also came with hot chocolate powder, mini marshmallows, candy canes, and even Christmas coloring sheets to keep your little ones distracted whilst you weigh out the ingredients. We loved making our cupcakes and they tasted delicious.

What allergies are they suitable for? These kits are suitable for those who are gluten-free and procedures are put in place to avoid cross-contamination. None of the dry ingredients contained egg or dairy so we simply used our own tried and tested swaps-dairy free spread, milk, and mashed banana for eggs and couldn’t tell the difference.

2. Little Cooks Co Christmas Eve Box

What is it? Prepare for Rudolph’s arrival by making special carrot cake cookies in Little Cook’s Christmas Eve box. Containing all the dry ingredients you need to make these cookies; as well as some lovely magical reindeer food for Christmas Eve (loved this touch!), thank you cards to send loved ones, and even your own adorable little cook’s apron for your child to wear when cooking! Our box also included some recipe ideas to make with your little cooks too. This box really is crammed with value and is a great way to introduce little ones to cooking.

What allergies/intolerances are they suitable for?

All ingredients in the kits are dairy-free and meat-free and only use gluten-free oats.

All customers are emailed at the beginning of each month with the equipment and ingredients required as well as the details of any allergens so that you have the opportunity to plan that month. Little cooks always try their best to find an alternative or you can always skip a month for yourself. Our kit was egg-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free.

3. Strp’d Tigernut Gingerbread Baking Kit

What is it? This grain-free gingerbread men kit from Strp’d use tiger nut flour which is gluten-free, vegan, grain-free, and nut-free. Inside you’ll find a bag of the flour, along with a gingerbread man cookie cutter, piping bag, mini golden sugar, and recipe card. This one is great for kids with multiple allergies or those looking for healthier alternatives to gluten-free flours (which are often made of rice)

What allergies/intolerances are they suitable for? Lots! The kit itself is free from gluten, dairy, nuts, refined sugar, and eggs.

4. Gluten Free Little Cooks

What is it? Gluten-free little cooks are baking kits specifically designed for children with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance. December’s kit is gluten-free gingerbread reindeers! You can also choose to upgrade your kit to the ultimate baking kit which also comes with handy baking essentials like cookie cutters and cupcake cases.

What allergies/intolerances are they suitable for? As well as being gluten-free, they’re also suitable for those who are dairy-free and recipes are tested with dairy alternatives.
